Cannabis

Why I care so much about legalizing the cannabis plant? People will seek the herb regardless of the law and it continues to increase because humanity would be stupid not to consume it and the more you create a "criminal" via prohibition or illegalization, the more the tax payers are taxed and the worse the economy gets.

Marijuana is the female portion of the Cannabis plant with the THC in whereas the male portion of the plant is merely industrial hemp. THC is the best medicinal ingredient in the world, that is the medicinal benefit, where as the male isn't. Mother is always the best nurturer. It's just hard to depopulate the earth by 90% (CNN) when you put marijuana in the hands of everyone. That's why it's illegal. They prohibit real health, the light, the truth. Though to me it's greed and the elite's failure to their new world order for I believe that is the reason people are waking up believing what they do is evil and not for humanitarian reasons like they say since they prohibit health or something stupid like this. This lie and just lying to me again, more than once and continuing it, refusing to correct it going forward is why there is no trust and why people seek to hearing conspiracy theorists that surround them because conspiracies are something that can natural exists within government rule. Legalize and tax it, regulate it through the liquor stores or food stores when checking ID & that will boost sales of those other items as well (tax it), have to make some organic too because otherwise you create the black market again. In other words, don't corrupt it like process cigarettes (those who don't roll their own and have chemicals added, it should be legal to grow and roll your own for personal use, show ID and obtain license if you sell it or it's illegal to sell then cause you are not growing for yourself and have to watch the selling to minors thing of course even though it's healthier than sugar and I believe better for kids than Ritalin and we are currently giving that to children and far more dangerous over the counter and prescription drugs or food). (New)

I use to smoke pot a lot in the past and thats when i was in the best shape of my life, i felt the best. If I was off work a lot via vacation, by myself with nothing to distract me and i had pot, i would smoke it all the time. Its perfect for people who are alone. The more I'm able to consume it the better I am, the more productive I am, more energy, exercised more etc. You're tolerance goes up to where its no different than having your morning coffee with Caffeine (yuck). Its why we try to stop for awhile to really feel stoned when you do it again the first time in awhile. I could out smoke anyone, I'm that energetic. The more available it is, the cheaper it is too. It's a a shame humanity doesn't wake up to John 2:13-16 where Jesus got upset with the bankers / money changers / drug LORDS who are the Lord or God of the Bible (Satan if you don't stand for truth) when Jesus said how dare you turn my fathers house into a market dictating to us what resources we can touch and not, especially when God advocates it in Genesis, "every herb bearing seed". Hypocrites. Yes the bible that was created by men (not jesus or God) after his murder, blessed by the Vatican and the bankers. Now I just don't care really about exercising and all that (I do at times still, it's natural within me, but) when nobody else does or care why bother? So I focus more time enlightening everyone, plus the weed that grows everywhere is expensive thanks to prohibition, so is your legal drugs / healthcare thanks to shutting down competition, ever took economics? If you would like me to prove how safe it is to consume marijuana, I can, let's do the study right now!

Prove the bible isn't made by God?

Well God created everything in the universe, sun, earth, water, plants (cannabis-marijuana, Trees), animals and men and it was men who cut the tree down, processed it into paper and wrote on it to make the bible.

How's that?

Restore the 9th amendment, legalize it! And get the Federal Corporation off our Government, the States Rights, 10th Amendment.

Munchies:

I want to address something to all you morons out there who like to get a chuckle with that when high off pot. Pot doesn't give you the munchies where you eat too much and get overweight, in fact, my weight is far easier to maintain and stay skinny the more high I am. How? Because getting high actually curbs the hunger pains more often than when you are not high (thinking you are hungry). I mean I'm hungry way more often when I'm not high or it feels like it and many times when I eat, it doesn't always feel good or you're able to get it down. It helps with a loss of apetite. It doesn't hit you in the stomach making you want to it, it just helps make your food taste better when you put it in your mouth so you can ea and swallow it, you know like cancer patients dealing with nausea?

How do I know this, cause it's been a long while since I've smoked and it sucks, but you got to do what you got to do right?

Whenever I use to smoke, I was in the best shape of my life, felt the best.

If you've never tried it before, I suggest you don't, because yes, you'll love it and you will MISS it like I do, especially when so many people say to you, "that will never be legalized", hey thanks for the support! If so, then please kill me now will you? For I guess I have no purpose in life then huh? Just wake up everyday and work with no real reward, slave.

I only did it because every girlfriend I encountered did it and it created arguments leading to breakups (over something stupid like that) which is why I thought I would try to end that bad luck of relationships by trying it myself after doing research (more below) that it's healthier than sugar and you couldn't OD on it or do anything bad to yourself and well, still didn't work. But what am I suppose to think when you grow up in America, the land of the FREE, use to be legal and the women I knew who did it were smart as hell?

If only I was.

The Real God = LOVE (positive energy, not Satan)

Love that people are always seeking, either from music, the food they eat, the drugs they take or the loved ones they are surrounded by if they are lucky to have them.

Addiction: first when consuming cannabis and not using it for other purposes.

Addiction comes from the very first time you taste something (a certain substance) and if you like it and want to consume more of it, you do. The substance itself doesn’t lead to another substance, the substance itself leads to you doing MORE of that substance and it’s only your thoughts and you choosing to try something different, trying a different substance or drug that leads to addiction. Now, this does enhance when you lie about marijuana, lump it into the same category as other drugs and it forces people to be criminals selling it, which sometimes the seller is selling other drugs and due to the lies and the availability on the black market, THAT is what leads to it being a Gateway drug. Legalize it and it no longer is a gateway drug.

It’s simple, you try something and if you like it, you want more. Pot didn’t lead to meth, like milk leads to alcohol? I mean we are all born consuming milk from your mother, are you saying that everything is a gateway then, one thing leading to another as if you drank milk, then you moved on to baby food, then junk food (sugar high), candy, alcohol (another form of high), cigarettes (high), maybe things illegal, you discover pot (a high like sugar)which  is NOTHING what they say, so you think, what about meth? Heroin? You try it, love it, get a better high or different high, get hooked on that thinking you can’t consume too much like pot and you OD and die. Yes, that is how it is for some people, maybe not everyone, but a lot!

Many things you can do and get addicted to. Many get addicted psychologically and not chemically, meaning there isn’t a withdrawal where you need a fix. You just choose too because you can’t help it and bored with nothing else to do or to distract you. It's like craving a piece of cake but you are not going to rob anyone in order to get your fix for it okay. If anything, to solve that problem you make it in abundance and not create scarcity with prohibition, that alone cuts down the crime. Or Like my addiction with me blogging to you daily cause I don’t have anything else better to do lol. What is wrong with people gravitating to things that don't hurt anybody when they are bored? Any addiction is psychological, like many people don’t get an addiction problem to alcohol but some do or many don’t get addicted to porn like some do or some getting addicted to video games, yoga, exercising, eating healthy, etc. like some people do but not everyone, get it? So should we ban all of these things?

Pot is more similar to video games than it is meth or heroin. You don’t NEED the fix, you just would like the fix, and you prefer the cake over your vegetables. But when I’m sick, I sometimes just want to eat an orange, not a piece of cake, understand? or consume this medicine over that medicine.

HIGH = exceeding the common degree or measure; strong; intense.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/high

Some things are stronger than others. Alcohol is strong, impairing you MORE than marijuana, which doesn't impair you where you can't walk a straight line, only relaxes you or makes you sleepy not wanting to drive, instead of not capable of driving. Very different. A sugar high is more intense than vegetables. I eat too much food and get sick, i may not want to drive either but go to bed. Cake is richer than peas. Cake is sweeter than peas. Things that are sweet or great tasting is more intense than something that is not as sweet!
I eat junk food and feel great when I eat it, but then the next 24 hours of digestion I feel like crap, like a sugar hangover and I NEVER feel that when consuming medical marijuana!

all of this, these "highs" = enjoying life, having fun, feeling GOOD, whether it comes from exercising, food, drugs, sex, etc. I like how it's okay to sleep with whomever you want or even prostitution is legal in America (reminded off the Larry Flint Billboard on the highway everyday and the countless porn magazines and videos), yet you can't consume medicine for yourself in your own home? Makes real sense!

Are we not allowed to feel good in life? are we not allowed to have fun in life or do things that make ourselves feel good that leads to good health (mentally and/or physically?)

There is no gateway drug, everything stands on it's own. As soon as you taste it and like something, you will want more of it, whether that "it" is:

- sex
- pizza or any food item
- sugar
- soda
- alcohol
- cigarettes
- cocaine
- heroin
- pain medication
- pot
- materialism or money
whatever…. we all can be addicted to anything...
If you like it or love it, you will want more of it, getting you into trouble, possibly if abused. However, one should realize that abusing some things like marijuana or being intimate with your wife (commitment) after you take care of your responsibilities of course are the few things you can abuse and it doesn't really hurt your impact you in a negative way.
If you "taste" something once and don't want it again, then you obviously didn't it like it all that much. The only prohibition should be done via your own self-discipline (self-choice, accompanied by education, truth), any other makes the situation worse. Such as.. Somebody else dictating to me what my choices should be. Why don't you stop trying to take care of me and let me decide what is best for me, okay?

Bill Explains Drugs perfectly and War on them – I like to take it  a step further and compare the illegal drugs to not just alcohol but your crap diet (processed foods with a list of chemicals or ingredients which makes your food drugs) and pills you all pop!

Keep in mind, i'm not trying to ban anything, i'm trying to put some sense back in American's and re-legalize FREEDOM.

People support competition (survival of the fittest), you mean competition of no competition? I mean I love competition, but what i'm saying is that your government is prohibiting competition, and it's competition that lowers the price and enhances more consumption of YOUR drug or product. Like prohibition of marijuana is NOT good for the beer industry, stop being naive, stop being ignorant to REALITY. It's simply a form of tyranny, a form of enslavement, not freedom. Prohibition, shutting down the competition, drives the price of everything up, including your desired drug or medicine. Plus, marijuana is the complete opposite of getting drunk, in fact, when people have their cannabis, they are able to consume more alcohol, as it provides balance. This video explains the basics of getting high of marijuana. We place a negative connotation on getting "high" from marijuana, yet over look "highs" from sugar, caffeine, alcohol, SEX, or any other legal "drugs" which all are for more harmful to society than marijuana could ever be which can help people refrain from the real negative highs, like sexual relations in order to "feel" good. It's mostly things that are man made that are bad for you, not things growing naturally via God or Nature. Marijuana is not for everyone, some may not like the feeling, may get paranoid (which I believe is based on your thoughts and doing something most others around you are not or breaking law) or just feel like they ate too much or any type of discomfort from eating something not right for a few hours. Most don't view those side effects as discomforting but feeling great. I mean what's wrong with laughter or just feeling good? If not legalizing marijuana, you should at least legalize the male part of the cannabis plant, Hemp!

Marijuana Studies

Provide a study illustrating you can smoke it.

Many of these studies or articles will go on to defend the various things below that THC helps, yet they’ll also say, but that doesn’t mean you should “smoke it”, why? Is it because you are still being ignorant and trying to support it’s prohibition?

You can vaporize it, cook with it, even smoking it isn't harmful in the latest article put out by Washington post.

Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/25/AR2006052501729.html

The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer.

That should be a "Nuff said", however here is more, just google bomb it.

I can understand people not liking the smell of it or being in a room where a lot of smoke is around from smoking it, however it’s not as bad as cigarette smoke and when there is no first hand smoking cancer problems, what makes you think there is second-hand smoking with marijuana? How can that be harmful?

Anxiety, Depression or Obsession - Even though mild anxiety is a common side effect in some users, cannabis can elevate your mood and expand the mind

"With the expansiveness that occurs with marijuana, the subject may begin to notice infinite possibilities to raise the quality of his/her life that would otherwise have remained hidden from normal, defensive consciousness. And feelings of health and happiness naturally lead to hope, which of itself can be curative." - Joan Bello

Many obsessions or quick fixes to psychological problems can be eleviated by Marijuana as well. Many people eat because they're depressed. If the depression is treated, the obsession to eat should be gone as well.

Any of these phycological conditions can be treated by a psychiatrist; marijuana should be an alternative therapy, used in conjunction with psychiatric therapy.

Cannabis Common Sense 613

-

From my own experience I do not just believe that cannabis provides immediate symptomatic relief, but also enhances the body's own natural healing response to sooth inflammation and bind broken cell tissue back together when a 'wound-healing reaction' takes place.

when trying to understand how cannabis helps you, it is helpful to understand the endogenous cannabinoid system in all of us.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_pharmacology2.shtml

chemical compounds in the cannabis plant called cannabinoids (of which there are more than sixty, it's not just THC) react functionally and biochemically with these cannabinoid-receptors found all over our body.

People like you and I who have inflamed bowels show an increased number of CB2 receptors in our gut, this suggests that body is screaming out for their activation.

THC, cannabinol (CBN) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinol)and cannabidiol (CBD) are effective on colitis. indica strains are the best for inflammatory bowel diseases, due to their high CBD count, and having recently returned from amsterdam, I can say these strains had an amazing effect on me: WHITE WIDOW, WHITE RUSSIAN, AK47, NEW YORK DIESEL, all these are powerful indicas. the purple haze (sativa) and nepalese black were not as effective in comparison.

Cannabis is my medicine now, but it will be more people's in the future, they are just thinking of a way to make their money first. Big Pharma Is in a Frenzy to Bring Cannabis-Based Medicines to Market - They claim pot doesn't have benefits then why Marinol? Why just legalize the real deal & the end the caring of man touching everything, pills, things we can't be self-sufficient on.

Hemp facts and myths

http://dankforest.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=15&chapter=20

You guys are ignorant. You damn well know Pot is an herb that can cure cancer. You have the fuking audacity to talk shit on me while my mom has cancer. All she has to fuking do, is smoke pot to cure her tumor and breast cancer, but she won't do it because it's fucking illegal. She doesn’t want to risk losing her job. So now, she has to do radiation.

Listen, the answer to everything, is in the cell!!!

A cell = The basic unit of living matter in all organisms, consisting of protoplasm enclosed within a cell membrane. The smallest structural unit of an organism that is capable of independent functioning, consisting of one or more nuclei, cytoplasm, and various organelles, all surrounded by a semipermeable cell membrane.

Were comprised of nothing but cells. Cancer happens when cells that are not normal grow and spread very fast. Normal body cells grow and divide and know to stop growing. Over time, they also die. Unlike these normal cells, cancer cells just continue to grow and divide out of control and don't die.

POT kills any non normal cell in the body and leaves the normal cells alone.

THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells.

New Study Explains How Pot Kills Cancer Cells

http://www.safeaccessnow.org/article.php?id=748

A new study provides an historic and detailed explanation about how THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells.

Cancer is an abnormal growth in the body, cells affected do not follow the normal growth signals for the particular cell, called apoptosis and actually helps in the process getting this signal to tumors so they stop dividing and die.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Doesn't_the_latest_study_say_that_THC_helps_suppress_or_even_kill_cancer_cells

THC is toxic to tumor cells but not normal cells

THC is toxic to any cell in the body that is NOT NORMAL!!!

And it enhances normal cell or brain cells (instead of alcohol killing brain cells)

This is how it cures tumors, this is how it cures cancer. This is why the video I posted, with hemp oil, cures cancer.

Medical Marijuana Works!! - Run from the Cure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjhT9282-Tw&feature=player_embedded

It's the THC that cures cancer. It kills the cancerous cells while preserving the normal cells.

Radiation and chemo, are TOXIC to your normal cells. They will make you sick. My grandma, due to her chemo and radiation, now has low red blood count, called anemia. All she had to do was smoke pot.

HEAD, NEEDS TO EXIT, ASS.

When does the evil, the oppression end?

And I'm the one that is crazy? Right! Wake up.

Recognize Reality. I'm not trying to ban anything, I'm not trying to push away your prescription drugs, sugar, caffeine - all the goody's. I like them too!! I have fun all the time. I'm simply promoting, more freedom!! Set it Free. I actually engage in all the fun stuff more often when I'm high, cause I can control myself better. I can handle caffeine, alcohol, fast food, all that good stuff, when I'm high. Pot is your medicine. God knew, man would make goodies, so he provided pot, to medicate ourselves in the process. Take it away, all that good stuff (well unhealthy, bad stuff) is bad for me. I don't consume it, no demand. Less profits.

Anheuser Busch, the beer and liquord industy all lobby against pot, cause they know how healhty pot is compared to alcohol. They are afraid everyone would just smoke pot instead. FEAR MONGERING, come on!!! Just because pot is legal, doesn't mean nobody won't drink your product. They won't lose sales. Everybody I know that smokes pot goes out and drinks beers, all the time. I drink a ton one night and then medicate with pot the next morning. I can drink more of your product with the addition of marijuana. It’s a balancer. It impacts you differently. I can only have the alcohol product if I'm high. Otherwise, I'm violent, moody, not pleasant to be around, etc.. Pot stabilizes me. Millions of americans already smoke anyway, nothing changes. And they all drink as well.

Ignorance.

The concentration of elite legislative power in America is well under way today as the new “supercommittee” is working on an end-run around Congress to put together a “secret farm bill” that would prop up failed agricultural policies with yet more billions in taxpayer dollars.

The “supercommittee” is the newly-formed (and utterly illegal) committee of 12 members of Congress who engineer new debt-related legislation that’s only allowed an up or down vote by the full Congress. This bypasses the traditional debate process by elected representatives, effectively concentrating the power to shape laws in the hands of a mere dozen members of Congress. The very structure is elitist from the start, and it directly contradicts the United States Constitution.

Because the committee concentrates yet more power in the hands of the few, it is being heavily lobbied by various groups and industries that want more government handouts. The farming industry, of course, is lined up at the trough of government slop just like everyone else, and this secret farm bill could cost taxpayers billions of dollars in government subsidies that are tied to commodities prices (which are extremely volatile and could unexpectedly rise).

Bypassing representatives to concentrate power with the elite

What this latest move demonstrates is that the supercommittee will now be used as a way to bypass the rest of Congress with yet more bloated government spending legislation that puts America further into a debt hole that increasingly appears to be headed toward total financial collapse.

That this is all being done without open debate in Congress, and without any public scrutiny of the actions of the 535 members of Congress is yet another disturbing sign that the very fabric of power in America is being deliberately destroyed and re-concentrated into the hands of the few — the “global elite” who now consider themselves kings who rule over the slave masses.

America needs hemp farming, not more bailouts for growing low-value crops

Of course, the ultimate farm bill for America would be the legalization of industrial hemp farming — a move that would unleash a whole new era of agricultural abundance across the nation.

Presently, the USA imports thousands of tons of hemp products each year from Canada, China and other countries. These products include hemp seeds, hemp fibers, hemp clothing and hemp oils. Why on earth is it illegal for U.S. farmers to grow these products when we import them from Canada anyway?

If anybody in Washington could pull their head out of the clouds, they would legalize hemp farming for American farmers. So instead of farmers earning pennies a bushel for growing corn or soybeans, they could earn dollars a bushel for growing hemp. This would put hundreds of millions of dollars back into the economy and create new jobs in farming, agriculture and hemp products. Legalizing hemp farming is the ultimate “jobs bill.”

Better yet, hemp grows without pesticides and requires little to no chemical fertilizers, either. It’s environmentally friendly, it makes money for farmers, and the demand for hemp products is absolutely huge.

The U.S. Constitution is written on hemp. Sails and ropes from the ships that brought America’s original explorers were made out of hemp, and the earliest renditions of the U.S. flag itself were also made out of hemp. Ever wonder why? Because hemp lasts! It’s more rugged than cotton and far easier to grow and harvest.

So why isn’t hemp legal in America? And why is the supercommittee in Congress secretly scheming behind closed doors to spend even more taxpayer money propping up a failed agricultural subsidy system that traps farmers in financial slavery while denying them the freedom to grow a crop that’s just begging to be met with additional supply?

The answer is simple: Because the U.S. government doesn’t want Americans to have economic freedom! And the DEA, in particular, doesn’t want to give up its tyrannical power over everything related to marijuana.

Yet another reason to rise up against tyranny and government oppression

If the People of America are to have any hope of restoring their freedom to farm, freedom to garden, and freedom to consume plant-based medicine, they are going to have to take those freedoms back (with protests and Free Speech, not with violence) and remind the government that it has no right to tell the People what they can or cannot grow on their own land, with their own hard work.

Heck, the U.S. military is in Afghanistan right now helping the locals grow heroin crops! This is on the record. It was openly reported on Fox News by Geraldo Rivera. Watch the video report here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj-b…

So why is the U.S. government guardian opium farms in Afghanistan while criminalizing industrial hemp farming in America?

Because Washington is insane, of course. Agricultural policies are set not to help the American farmer, but to centralize power in Washington and either criminalize or financially enslave as many American citizens as possible. It’s all about stripping power away from the People and delivering it to the hands of the few.

Once again, the only man who takes a consistent stand against all this insanity is Rep. Ron Paul. If you support the legalization of hemp farming, the legalization of food freedom and the ending of the ludicrous “war on drugs” and all the millions of innocent people rotting in our prisons today for merely growing and selling a medicinal plant, then your only logical candidate is Ron Paul.

Great Comment:

I don’t know about you other Warriors, but I am still stupified how these people with $2k suits can sit in a room and make judgements on OUR future! When they are getting paid off our tax dollars. There is going to be a rally here in Milwaukee tonight and I am going! Whether I agree with all the terms of the OWS doesn’t matter, its still a demonstration and I can carry any sign I want to. This country is bs and going down the toilet. If we don’t get off our fat butts and protest, and GET OUT THERE to speak with others, then how in hell is this ever going to improve?

Legalize Marijuana
http://www.naturalnews.com/032791_legalize_marijuana_Ron_Paul.html

Four decades of the so-called "War on Drugs" has led only to the suffering of millions of innocents, the crowding of our prisons with non-violent citizens, the utter waste of billions of dollars on law enforcement and the (in)justice system, and the enriching of underground drug gangs who thrive on violence. The outlawing of marijuana in America has been a disastrous political policy and an insane medical policy. It has labeled biochemical addicts "criminals" and thrown them in prisons to be treated like dogs.

The War on Drugs, through interdicting street supplies ofdrugs, has only made thedruggangs wealthier by driving up the value of the drugs that remain readily available. And it is now admitted that the ATF actually placed tens of thousands of weapons directly into the hands of Mexican drug gangs, giving rise to the very gangviolencethe agency claims to be preventing (
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011...).
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/15/us-usa-mexico-guns-idUSTRE75E49N20110615

The U.S. government, it turns out, is actually contributing to the drug war violence!

In an effort to end the insanity, Rep. Ron Paul has joined forces with Rep. Barney Frank to introduce legislation legalizing marijuana in America. President Obama, you may recall, promised voters on the campaign trail that he would do this, too, but it seems he's been too busy bombing Libya and using the U.S. Constitution as a floor mat to bother keeping any actual promises. (GITMO is still open forbusiness, too, in case you haven't noticed...)

Of course, the War on Drugs is a very effective tool of tyranny to be used against the American people. It empowers the DEA and the federal government to conduct surprise searches of any home or business for any reason whatsoever (even without a warrant), it keeps the prison industry overflowing with endless cheap human labor, and it grants the big drug companies a monopoly over all those recreational drugs that are now sold as pharmaceuticals.

"Speed," for example, is now sold as an ADHD treatment for children. Big Pharma is also going after THC chemicals in marijuana and hopes to sell them as prescription drugs. By keeping the War on Drugs in place, Big Pharma is assureda monopoly that even the drug lords haven't been able to accomplish.

One thing that's especially interesting about the so-called War on Drugs is how the best-informed people on both the left and the right now see it all as a complete fraud. Perhaps that's why Rep. Ron Paul (Republican) and Rep. Barney Frank (Democrat) are the perfect sponsors of this bill. Each has staked out positions on the opposite ends of the political spectrum for some issues, yet they both agree that it's time to end the failed Nixon-era policies that have only brought this nation suffering and injustice.

Ending the failed War on Drugs is not a conservative idea nor a liberal idea; it'sa principle of liberty whose time has come in America.

Because in observing the War on Drugs, the prison crowding, the drug underground economy and all the other unintended consequence of marijuana prohibition, we must ask the question: Is society served in any way by criminalizing marijuana smokers? How does taking a medical addict and throwing them behind bars accomplish anything at all?

The prohibition against marijuana accomplishes nothing for society
For starters, it halts the contributions of a tax paying citizen. Most pot smokers actually have jobs and pay taxes. They are functioning citizens -- lawyers, accountants, musicians, administrators and more. By throwing them in prison, you're destroying their own ability to participate in the economy while actually placing a new cost burden on the rest of society.

Secondly, from a moral perspective, pot smokers need medical support, not criminal indictment. If someone is suffering from a substance addiction, how does throwing them in prison and surrounding them with other addicts and hardened criminals serve any positive purpose whatsoever? Today, U.S. prisons actually function more like criminal training camps where people come out as far more violent criminals than when they went in. So the justice system actually ends up capturing people who are relatively peaceful, tax-paying citizens and then turning them into hardened criminals who are eventually released onto the streets.

How insane is that?

Wouldn't it make more sense to allow them to continue to function in society but help them with their drug addiction through a medical / health perspective? Addicts need support, not incarceration. And today's justice system does absolutely nothing to rehabilitate prisoners. It only makes them far worse criminals.

And finally, from an economic perspective alone, can any U.S. state really afford to continue incarcerating people for non-violent crimes that have no victims? Who is harmed with a guy down the street lights up a joint? No one. There are no victims. There is no crime, either, other than the fictional crime the State fabricates to incarcerate people.

A "real" crime is a crime that has a victim: A rape, a burglary, a mugging, or a murder. Those crimes deserve proper consideration by the justice system, and people who commit such crimes are precisely the kind of people society can justifiably put behind bars. But carrying a few ounces of marijuana in your pocket -- or even lighting up a smoke -- violates no person or property. Nor does it violate any moral or ethical principle. It is, in every way, an act that is improperly and unjustifiably criminalized through legal fictions engineered by the state.

The solution to marijuana prohibition is finally at hand
It is time to end those legal fictions and end the War on Drugs in America. The solution is to:

#1) LEGALIZE marijuana across the country.

#2) REGULATE marijuana and allow it to be sold through licensed retailers.

#3) TAX marijuana sales and use the tax proceeds to fund addiction support programs for those small percentage of users who end up addicted.

The results of these actions will be:

#1) A COLLAPSE of the drug gangs. If marijuana is suddenly legal, who would bother buying it from a street dealer?

#2) A COLLAPSE of drug profits. If it's legal, the price goes down. Suddenly there's no more money in trafficking the drug, either, so the drug gangs are instantly out of business.

#3) A HUGE INCREASE in revenues to the states from collecting taxes on the legal sale of marijuana.

#4) A REDUCTION in young people trying the drug. What teenager wants to try something if it's LEGAL? Legalizing pot takes all the "fun" out of it for many young people. It's no longer cool. Kinda boring, actually. And it makes you cough.

#5) A SAVINGS of billions of dollars off all the money states are right now spending arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating people for possessing marijuana. This money could be used to build schools, roads, job re-education programs and more. And don't court judges have better things to do than sentence pot smokers?

#6) AN END to prison overcrowding. End the sentences for those incarcerated merely for marijuana possession. Set them free and end the prison crowding. Save the prisons for the real criminals such as murderers, child molesters and Wall Street bankers.

#7) A FREER, more just society that respects human dignity. If you treat addicts like criminals, you take away their dignity, and your entire society suffers a net loss. By recognizing the humanity behind the addiction, we can restore human dignity to the entire process of how we deal with drug addicts in society today.

Here's what you can do right now to help support this bill: Call your Congressman in Washington D.C. and tell them you want to support the bill to end the federal ban on marijuana.

The switchboard number is 202-224-3121.

If you live in the U.S. or are a U.S. citizen, call this number now, ask to be connected to your Congressperson, and verbally express your support for the bill to legalize marijuana across America.

It is time to end the failed War on Drugs, stop the useless incarceration of millions of innocent people, and halt the tyranny of the DEA and other federal agencies that waste billions of dollars every year stalking and assaulting people who merely want to smoke a weed.

I don't smoke weed, by the way, but as a person who believes in the principles of freedom and liberty, I fully support the rights of others to smoke marijuana if they so choose. Similarly, I don't drink alcohol, but I support the rights of other to drink alcohol if that's their decision. As a nation, we tried prohibition with alcohol and it was a disaster. Now we're living through the era of marijuana prohibition, and it is a disastrous failure as well. Isn't it time we grew up as a nation and allowed people to take responsibility for their own actions as long as they aren't harming anyone else in the process?

Smoke all you want, folks! I'm gonna have a superfood smoothie instead.

Rep. Ron Paul (Republican) and Rep. Barney Frank (Democrat) are the perfect sponsors of this bill.

Their CONTROL has got to end!
